El Dorado Properties is a family owned and operated full service real estate company specializing in land use consulting and value-add commercial/residential real estate. Formed in 1987 by Daniel R. Smith, El Dorado Properties has served hundreds of clients from first time home buyers to commercial developers. Servicing all of San Diego, the Smith family has created a network of qualified contractors, brokers, lenders and professionals that all have contributed to the success of our clients for nearly 40 years.
Daniel Smith
Founder
Born in Ohio and raised in San Diego, Dan returned to San Diego in 1978 from working on the Tran-Union Alaska Pipeline. Being a second-generation real estate enthusiast, Dan purchased his first residential property in Allied Gardens in the early 1980’s. With hard work, patience and vision, Dan was able to expand his real estate portfolio over the past 40 years to now include over 300,000 square feet of commercial/residential properties.
Although stepping down as acting President/CEO of El Dorado Properties in 2015, Dan continues his passive real estate investing and brokerage activities while being El Dorado’s most knowledgeable land use consult.
“Mr. Grantville” as sometimes referred, Dan has served the Navajo Community of San Diego for over 25 years on various planning groups, committees, and land use projects. Dan has two children, Danielle and David whom both work for the family company as acting brokers and principles. Residing in Allied Gardens, Daniel enjoys traveling, body surfing, good food and the great outdoors.
David Smith
President/CEO
David is the acting President/CEO of El Dorado Properties, as well as general partner to numerous real estate investment entities. David oversees all day-to-day management activities including construction, leasing, financial underwriting, and land use consulting.
Being a professional real estate broker since 2011 and third generation real estate minded, David has been instrumental in the creation of El Dorado’s land use consulting business.
A graduate from San Diego State University in 2011, David holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance with an Emphasis in Real Estate as well as a minor in International Studies from the University of Virginia. David is the acting Chair of the Navajo Community Planning Group which oversees land use issues pertaining to the Navajo Community.
Being a native San Diegan, David has a love for the ocean, golfing and the great outdoors. David lives in La Mesa with his wife Jennica and his two young daughters.
Danielle Smith
Chief Operations Officer
Danielle is currently the Chief Operating Officer at El Dorado Properties, primarily responsible for all property management operations, contracts, and client accounting. With strong administrative skills and a deep knowledge of tenant/landlord law, Danielle has been a vital part of the growth of El Dorado Properties since 2008.
Danielle holds a California Real Estate Agent License and continues to update her credentials and knowledge through participation in professional courses and seminars. Native to San Diego and currently residing in the Mission Hills neighborhood, Danielle enjoys traveling, cooking for family and friends, and enjoying all that San Diego has to offer.
Krystle Abele
Krystle is the newest member to join the EL Dorado Properties Team as the executive assistant. Raised in Dallas, Texas Krystle moved to San Diego in 1998. Krystle’s background in customer service and desire to make people smile were the building blocks in her decision to purse real estate. Prior to entering the real estate business, Krystle worked as an automotive collision estimator. Her natural curiosity drives her to listen to and learn about the people she encounters.
Krystle’s attention to detail, positive attitude, and eagerness to learn have made her a valuable addition to the team. Goal orientated and driven, Krystle holds a Real Estate Agent License and is pursing further education to obtain her CPM designation. A proud mom to her 6 year old son, she enjoys spending time outdoors, traveling, and creating new memories and adventures with friends and family.
